Abiquiu-Youngsville Indivisible and Rural Indivisible New Mexico are holding a rally and luncheon in Abiquiu on April 18, 2026.
Why now and why in Abiquiu
April 18th marks the one year anniversary of a weekly rally along Hwy. 84 by Abiquiu/Youngsville Indivisible (AYI). Starting with just one person, to a regular showing of dozens, the group has continued to let their neighbors know that things are not OK. People from all around the world travel to the Abiquiu area because of Abiquiu Village, Ghost Ranch, the rich historical and geographical importance of the area and Georgia O’Keefe’s legacy. With their presence, this small group has given hope to people from across the county and around the world.
Why is this event called “Reclaiming the Dream?”
AYI’s original protester, Truman Nabors, participated in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This is a reference to Dr. King’s I Have A Dream but also a call to all of us to rekindle our own personal and communal dreams. Dreaming together we can move FORWARD to new dreams.
