Abiquiu-Youngsville Indivisible Registering Voters and Publicizing Information about Election 2026 NM

Abiquiu/Youngsville Indivisible has an energized team of people focusing on voter registration. Seven people have become certified voter registrars. They have gotten permission to set up booths in a half dozen locations, including the Abiquiu and Espanola Farmers Markets, Ghost Ranch, Las Clínicas del Norte El Rito, the El Rito Community Center, and possibly more as the effort goes forward. In a rural area where reliable internet and cell service are not a given, the physical presence of real live people (!) is a way to make neighbor-to-neighbor connections. The group offers on-the-spot voter registration, hands out flyers about online registration and voter rights in New Mexico, informs people about automatic voter registration at the NM Motor Vehicle Division, and answers general questions about registration and voting.
Looking for additional ways to reach out to the community, the Abiquiu/Youngsville Indivisible team will be submitting weekly, election-related, articles in the Abiquiu News. This online news source has 2500 subscribers and gets an average of 2000-3000 unique hits on its website a week. Using the fantastic body of information posted online by Free and Fair Elections 2026 and Land of Action, it will be easy to post a factual article every week, choosing a given topic as its focus and using one of the cool, professional graphics as a header. The first article, providing important election dates, appeared August 19 in the Abiquiu News. The second article, a week later, will provide info on voter registration, and so on.

Workshopping Free and Fair Elections NM26

The FFENM26 team is headed to Truth or Consequences NM to hold a workshop with area activists, covering topics such as election watching with Land of Action, community voting drives, after-the-election action and more. The workshop is booked to capacity. We are psyched to gather in person to work on election protection and massive voter turnout.
Land of Action founder Heidi Li Feldman visited Indivisible Española this past Saturday to discuss the Free and Fair Elections NM26 Toolkit and how to get involved with Election Watching with Land of Action.

It was a great opportunity to discuss the pivotal role New Mexico plays in American southwestern progressivism and why massive voter turnout here in NM matters. I emphasized the need for local groups across the state to make people in their community feel safe, comfortable and enthusiastic about voting. There was much interest in the tools we will have available to meet this need. With Land of Action Election Watching teams forming in locations across the state, I urged Indivisible Española members and their friends to join the effort in Rio Arriba County. Indivisible Española members asked great questions, shared their knowledge and thoughts, and generated new ideas about how to engage their community in the upcoming 2026 election. It energized me to learn from the conversation while also sharing the work of the Free and Fair Elections NM26 campaign and Land of Action.
